You know how to tell exactly when an American left their normal life & fucked off to live “the island life” ?
There is a specific, telltale sign - true for almost all “Yanks” I’ve met while living here in Bali.
It’s their iPhone.
Whatever iPhone model they have, is the year they left.
The year they stopped upgrading it.
I have the iPhone X, released in November of 2017.
That’s when I left New York.
These days, for the most part, I’m either in the ocean, or behind my laptop telling stories about the ocean.
My only goal is to tell more & better stories about the ocean.
Also I’d like to get barreled.
iPhone upgrades are overrated. Giant tuna are not.
My point is - I fucking love the ocean.
And sashimi.
